Applications open on 1 August. Here is what has changed in the evaluation process, final and introductory online meeting.
Applications for the 2027 Roaster of the Year award open on 1 August. The competition uses both the descriptive and affective approaches of the Coffee Value Assessment (CVA).
Under the new rules, affective evaluation and green coffee grading will not affect selection for the semi-final and final, except when competitors have equal scores.
In the final, each competitor will receive a second coffee and work with a second roaster. The lots will include 1 kg of rare coffee and 6 kg of a more familiar coffee.
An online introductory meeting will cover the new equipment, processing terminology, evaluation process and the new “best among X” approach. The meeting will take place on 1 July at 10:00 Moscow time. A Zoom link will be sent after registration.
Read the full rules on the official competition website.
